Dr. Kate Harnish is a 2002 graduate of Mahanoy Area High School and a 2006 graduate of Temple University. Dr. Harnish spent three years in Grenada, West Indies and her fourth and final year at the University of Pennsylvania studying veterinary medicine. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from St. George's University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. She remains a member of Phi Zeta International Veterinarian Honor Society, PVMA, AAHA, and AVMA. Dr. Harnish was the recipient of the Public Award of Merit in 2014 from PVMA. Dr. Harnish strives for better preventative care to enhance the lives of companion animals. Some of her hobbies include traveling and auctioning.
A familiar face to the many returning clients. Heidi started her career at the Anthracite Animal Clinic in 1988 under Dr. Yvonne Walacavage filling many job roles through the years. Heidi resides in Auburn, PA with her husband, Dave, and her son, Brandon. They share their home with one dog, Duncan and six cats: Puma, CC, Max, Kelso, Roary and Sheldon. She is a 1987 graduate of North Schuylkill High School and a 1992 graduate of Penn State University where she received her BS in Dairy and Animal Science. In the interim, Heidi earned her Elementary Teaching Certification from Alvernia University in 2007, but her compassion and lifelong love of animals led her back to pursue a rewarding career at AAC. In her free time, she enjoys writing, reading, making crafts, drawing, and taking care of her furry friends.
Jennifer is a 2003 graduate of Tri-Valley High School and a 2005 graduate of Lehigh Carbon Community College/Northampton Community College where she earned an Associate Degree in Applied Science specializing in Veterinary Technology. In 2009, Jennifer also attended Geisinger School of Phlebotomy in Bloomsburg. Jen has completed the Canine Rehabilitation Program offered through the University of Tennessee, June 2013. She also has completed the Fear Free Certification Program. Jen has a strong devotion to the profession. Jen is happily married with 8 dogs, 3 rabbits, chickens and 2 horses. She also enjoys volunteering in the community and is involved with the fire department. She is a K-9 handler for Middle Creek Search and Rescue with her dog, Charlotte. She LOVES riding her motorcycle. Jennifer is a 2018 Finalist for Pet Plan's Veterinary Technician of the Year!
Heather is a 2002 graduate of Line Mountain High School and continued her education at National K-9 in Ohio to receive her certification in dog training. Heather also completed a program through U.S. Career Institute to receive a certificate as a veterinary assistant. When not assisting the veterinarian Heather holds puppy classes, basic training classes and agility on our premises. Along with her husband, Heather lives happily with her twin boys, daughter and recently had a baby boy. She has 2 dogs, cat and pet pigs. "I always have a smile on my face :)"
Nicole is a 2011 graduate of North Schuylkill Jr./Sr. High School. Nicole graduated from Johnson College, June 2013, where she earned her Associates Degree in Science through the Veterinary Technology Program. Prior to graduating she had to overcome many obstacles, but her passion and drive led her to where she is today. She currently has a cat named Angel, guinea pigs named Carmello and Marble and 2 bunnies named Cadbury and Domino. Nicole also has a wonderful shorthair dachshund, Caesar that she enjoys spoiling.She enjoys photography and running. Nicole has always wanted to work with animals and has found her second home here at AAC. She states, "I couldn't be happier and I feel blessed to work with such compassionate people"!
Kaitlyn is a 2009 graduate of Minersville High School. In 2013, she received her Bachelor of Science from Lebanon Valley College. She is also a 2015 graduate of Lehigh Carbon Community College/Northampton Community College where she received her Associates Degree in Applied Science specializing in Veterinary Technology.She resides in Shippensburg with her fiance, Steven, and their cats Morris and Goose. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and painting. Her love for animals and passion for veterinary medicine have inspired Kaitlyn to strive for continuing her education in the field and to pursue her Doctorates of Veterinary Medicine at St. George's University.** Currently enrolled at St. George's University!!
Kallie joined the AAC team in May 2016. Kallie is originally from Corning, NY. She graduated from West High School in 2006. She has volunteered at animal adoption programs when residing in Fairfax, Virginia. Being a part of the Anthracite team has inspired Kallie to look into furthering her education in the veterinary field. She owns a maltese fox terrier mix named, Bella. Kallie currently lives in Valley View with her two sons Lukas and Landyn.
Liz is a 2013 graduate from North Schuylkill Jr./Sr. High School. She has 2 cats, Jane and Lucy, a frog named, Scuba and a hermit crab. She also has a son, Brayden. She is currently enrolled in a veterinary technician program at York Technical Institute.
Nikki is a 2004 graduate of Minersville Area. She attended Lehigh Carbon Community College. Nikki has 15 years of experience working with animals. She has extensive experience in emergency, surgery and ophthalmology. Her family consists of a daughter, Alehra, 3 dogs(Vlad-English Setter, Mr. Grey-Mexican Hairless and Molly-Chinese Crested) and cats.
Sabrina graduated from Shenandoah Valley in 2011. She was involved in basketball and track. She went to Animal Behavior College for Veterinary Assistant in 2015. Sabrina just recently bought her first home and resides in Ringtown with her boyfriend, Duayne and stepdaughter. She has an American Bulldog named, Sebastian and red ear slider turtle named, Squirt. She is a volunteer firefighter with Ringtown Valley.
Dr. Mailen is a graduate from Kansas State University. He enjoys spending time with his family.
Nicole is a 2014 graduate of Minersville High School. She is also a 2017 graduate of the Vet Tech Institute where she received her Associates Degree in Applied Science Specializing in Veterinary Technology. Nicole always had a passion for helping animals. When she was 14 years old she started working at her local animal shelter, helping homeless pets find their forever homes. Currently, she has 2 spoiled dogs, 5 rats, and multiple rescue kitties. In her free time, she enjoys going to concerts, off-roading, hiking, shopping, and relaxing with family and friends.
